A strange tower appearing out of nowhere emitting green smoke...? Clockwinder thought to himself, Well I know what I'm going to do as soon as I see it... and hopefully the mayor and his soldiers are still alive... I'm not sure how this town will react if any of them turn up dead... or worse...

"I accept, sir," he says, saluting, "To bring the town's mayor back from an uncertain fate and restore the rule of law is at the heart of my duties as a paladin. Also, I would be honored to have a capable soldier like Golden Cauliflower with us on our journey, as well," he adds, modding at the soldier and Black Cross.

"The only thing I will require between now and the commencement of our quest is either a shrine to Princess Luminance or a house of worship that contains such a shrine, where I can pray before I leave on this quest," he adds, as he lifts a hoof up to touch his silver holy symbol of an opened book perched atop the flat end of an upwards-facing hoof, the symbol of Princess Luminance, "though if none exist, a library would suffice."

Caldacent smiled. "Of course, Clockwinder VI. Cauliflower here can take you there." He turns to Golden Cauliflower. "Cauliflower, I would like you to guide them arround town to whatever shop or location they need before they leave." Pausing, he takes out a piece of paper and writes something out, and hands it to Clockwinder. "Here is proof that you are assigned to this quest. Show this to any shop or stall owner in town, and they will provide you with any basic provision you require---within limits, of course. Have a good day, and may your diety be with you."

Cauliflower, Black Cross and Clockwinder VI walk out of the office, saying their farewells. Cauliflower turns to the two adventurers. "Where do you need to go first?"

[[ Okay! Quick little rule: basic provision is generally defined as an item that is not clasified as a weapon or armor, and costs below 2 GP. I would advise discussing supplies and such in the OOC thread, even IC if you feel it is necessary. ]]

"I believe I will only require a bedroll, as I don't imagine this quest will be accomplished in a day, and of course, a shrine to Princess Luminance. It should be all I will require before we begin this quest," Clockwinder stated.

Cauliflower nodded. "Okay then, SIr Clockwinder. Anything you need, Miss Black Cross?"

"Perhaps dry fire wood, surely a commodity in this weather." Black Cross says "I can't think of anything else"

"...okay then. I will escort you both to the market place stalls that have what you require, then I'll escort Sir Clockwinder to his shrine," she states stiffly. "This way."

[[ Secret GM roll ]]

Although it had been only mere minutes, the water is still rising, abeit slowly, on the streets. Only a small handful of citizens are still about, and some stall owners are preparing to close up shop. Some of the citizens look tierd and others simply uneasy as they walk about with large bundles strapped on their backs while they get drenched in the heavy rainfall. Every once in a while, a loud crack fills the air as one of the many weaker trees near the borders of Arcycus falls to the persistant lightning.

Cauliflower leads Clockwinder and Black Cross to a stall that is under a particularly large overhang. A rather large brown earth pony stallion sits behind the stall, slouching with his eyes nearly closed. Large, black eyebrows outline the upper curve of his eye sockets, more then making up for his lack of a mane. A white apron dons his frame, and splinters of all sizes stick out in many places. Behind him, a small pile of logs sits forlorn. As Cauliflower, Cockwinder and Black Cross approaches, his eyes (sharply green) open suddenly, and his posture straightens up. "Ah, Golden!" he boistrously guffaws, "It is great to see you come by. Who are these others that accompany you?"

"Hey, I thought I've told you about calling me Golden while I'm on duty, Stol." Despite her seemingly offended tone, a small smirk curls on her otherwise straight face. "These two are Black Cross and Clockwinder VI. They are adventurers that came to help find the mayor in that tower."

Stol raises one of his large eyebrows. "I see." He faces the adventurers. "Welcome to my Lumber stall! What will you like to buy?"

"We are in need of some dry lumber for our journey to the tower" Cross says to the merchant, "and a tarp and tinder if you carry those items"

"Ah, getting lumber from a lumber shop, eh? Ha ha! Alright, I imagine six logs will do you nicely, along with some of this scap wood for tinder (free of charge, of course) and at tarp? I don't have that for sale, but Miss Wishwash over there---" he points over to a small building with a sign that says Wishwash's To-Wish-For Cloths, "---ought to have some. That will be 6 cp."

"Okay then, you're supposed to cover that right?" Cross says to cauliflower
